Understanding the importance of Vocational education in development of youth and nation, Uttarakahnd Open University established a separate School “School of Vocational Studies” in 2014. The main objective of the School is to develop programmes that help not only to provide gainful employment to the unemployed youth but also help in nation building. At present, the School is running Certificate, Advance Certificate and Diploma level programmes for which On-The-Job (OJT) training is imparted in reputed Industries. For the purpose, University has collaborated with Tata Motors Limited(TML), Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (MSIL), Ashok Leyland, Tata AutoComp (TACO), Endurance Technologies and Carborandum, etc. Such programmes are very useful for the youths as it provides academic, technical and social exposure which helps them to find career pathway ready. Further, such programmes help in fostering independence, self-awareness and commitment for personal growth.
